This is the philosophy of Dr. José Cabanillas, a Peruvian-born medical doctor, whose family has practiced healing for generations.

José "Gonzalo" Cabanillas is one of a handful of medical doctors in Peru working to integrate natural medicine with modern scientific medicine. He performs integrated medicine, an approach to medicine that takes the patient's whole being into account. His integrative approach is gaining wider acceptance and recognition beyond Peru's borders.

Cabanillas was born in Peru's capital, Lima, to a family of healers. Recognizing his gifts, José's parents gave him a strict education, value systems and the understanding of people. He was taught that he was on a unique life journey, requiring special training. As a student José learned by example rather than explanation. He learned the healing arts of hydrotherapy, herbs, roots, resins, carbons and clays in this way.

José had always shared a profound bond with the Rainforest, nurtured by the closeness he shared with his parents.
